Statuses
| Record | Status flow |
|---|---|
| Reservation | requested → reserved / unavailable → issued; or released / cancelled |
| Goods receipt | arrived → receiving → inspection → accepted / part_accepted / quarantined / rejected → complete |
| Receipt line | received → inspection → accepted / quarantined / rejected |
Statuses show as coloured badges in the lists: green reserved / accepted, red unavailable / rejected, amber in progress, blue new.
The reservation rule (R9)
All or nothing: when Work asks for a quantity, Inventory reserves the full quantity from the one location holding the most available stock. If no location has enough, the reservation is unavailable, nothing is held, and Work and Purchasing are told (Purchasing raises a purchase requirement). Each material requirement gets at most one open reservation, so a repeated request returns the existing one. Releasing a reservation (or Work cancelling the requirement) puts the stock back. Partial reservations are a later refinement.
Every reserve / release writes an Inventory Transaction; the balance's available quantity never goes below zero.
Goods arriving (R10.4a)
Goods that arrive are on hand but held (counted as quarantined) until they are inspected — nothing becomes available on arrival. Inspection then decides each line: accepted stock becomes available, rejected stock leaves the store, quarantined stock stays held. Accepted stock first fills reservations that were unavailable for that item (earliest required-by first), and Work is told the part is reserved. An acceptance can be reversed (back to quarantine, or rejected) only while the stock has not been reserved or issued. Each step writes an Inventory Transaction (receipt, accept, reject, quarantine).
Numbers
| Record | Number | How |
|---|---|---|
| Reservation | RES-1003, … |
Assigned on save when left blank; continues the existing series and skips numbers already used. Read-only once issued. |
| Goods receipt | GR-5002, … |
Same rule. |
| Transaction | IT-… |
Generated for movements made by the network; entered for manual ones. |
References to other applications
Lists show the readable reference (WO-1002, MR-1002-01, CAT-OIL-FILTER-1R0716,
PO-004410); the network ids (…_cid) are in the detail panel's Identifiers &
integration section. Work orders and material requirements link ↗ to Work
Management's read-only view, catalogue items to Catalogue, purchase orders to Purchasing
and suppliers to Supplier; asset references show without a link until that application
exists. A rejected receipt is also reported to Supplier, which opens a quality issue, and to
SAP AP, which stops paying for it; SAP AP reads an order's receipts (accepted quantities)
when it matches a supplier invoice.
Choosing a catalogue item: on a form, type part of the item code, description or a manufacturer number in the Catalogue Item box and pick from the list — the network id below it is filled in for you (the search asks the Catalogue application).
