Inventory & Receiving

Know what stock is where, hold it for the work that needs it, and receive what arrives — stock locations, balances and the movement ledger; reservations for work orders; goods receipts, their lines and inspections; and stock counts.

Its central question:

When work needs a part, is it here — and if so, is it held for that work? When goods arrive, what came, in what condition, and what is actually available to use?

It is a member of the R9 Work & Supply network: Work Management tells it when material is needed; it reserves the stock (or reports that there is none) and the answer goes back to Work — and, when stock is short, on to Purchasing.

The stock spine

Stock Location → Stock Balance ← Inventory Transaction (the movement ledger) → Inventory Reservation (for a work order's material requirement), and on the receiving side Goods Receipt → Goods Receipt Line → Receipt Inspection, with Stock Count → Stock Count Line to check the books against the shelf.
